Email Activation Errors

Hello,

I tried to search forum but could't get true answer.

My Host says my domain DNS is correct.
I use GOOGLE APPS to manage email on my site.

The script cannot send emails to users with two (dots.)

eg. user@yahoo.com.tw <-- two dots
eg. firstname.lastname@gmail.com
eg. dj.stylez@gmail.com

I click "Re-Send" activation email in my admin. still no email. not even JUNK folder has nothing :S

My personal gmail account also has sitename.com@gmail.com

I don't know whats the problem with script refusing to send emails on some accounts or unpopular mail clients too ? eg. HushMail.com etc...

This is very serious if a user wants to buy a premium account!!

I hope there is a solution to force all emails to send

Has anybody managed to replicate this issue ?

I hope im not the only one. As i would like to keep my premium members automatic ....

My host says SendMail works , some users get activation mail. So what's wrong ?

if you own the server
then check the settings of your email settings (i forgot the name at this moment)

i use cpanel and i can config a lot of setitngs against spamm

if my server cant verifie the email adress (callback) then it refuse to send

same as hello request
if the email does not contain a helo request then it get refused

and so there are a lot of settings to prevent spam and to verifie the user existing

that can give problems with a . in the email adress
as the server cant verifie user.name
when it need to verifie user.name@host.com

the thing you can do is to disable all your email settings and then try to enable 1 per 1 until it refuse to work again

then you are shure what settings are doing that , and if you sitll want to keep that spammfilter then you need to put them in whitelist (going be a lot of work)

it solved for me a lot of problems by disabling a few security settings as i wasnt getting a single email from my websites

Hello again my friend.

I have NO CPANEL/WHM or other control panel.

My main server is a Dedicated Server , empty with this script & files.

Also, i manage email with GOOGLE APPS.

So my email DNS pings Google.

What can i check in my server then ? or how do i see error log ?

do your provider take care of the dns ?
or do your server handle as a dns server ??

if your provider takes care of a dns server then the emails have nothing to do with your server (probaly differend dns server )

if your dns is on your own server then you need to setup the email configs

i never used google aps for emails (i basicly hate google after they banned me because they say that i do clickfraude on my pr3 proxy :'( )

if the settings are correct , then i cant help you with it , maybe you can ask google for more help about it as everything get taken care of with google aps ??

or to make it even better , change the settings to your local server for that site only , and dont take any third apps to take care of it

Hello im back again.

After 30days of trying to find out the issue.

I'm out of ideas.

This is the serious issue.

1.User registers
2.Site says go check your email for activation link
3.User did not get such email even after many hours
4.I check my admin panel (XFS) the user is there but not activated.

5.Admin panel says other emails are activated & ok.
6.Why ? most emails are Hotmail,Gmail (mostly!),Yahoo.

7.This is a serious problem because i have people who are DJ's who want to host their files , & they say they're scared to buy premium because of activation no email.

This happens everyday eg. 5 new users per day but 3 don't get activation mail.

Why?

I enabled it because i want genuine people to register. All major file-hosting sites do this , its a way of reducing automated registrations or spam

Any kind of spam really. My point is to just to have mostly geniune people on the site , i don't care if there's two/three auto registrations happening. We all get spam one way or another.

That's true i guess. ( i don't care to the ones who do typos , it's their problem )


PS. Could i ask an admin what's the best way to SELECT all people who are not activated & just delete them.

I wish the scrip had a check box in the admin so i can one-click & clear.... & there also some people who haven't logged in the last 90/120days ....
