hi guys,

can someone help me choosing a good and cheap dedicated server for my website?

In this very moment I have:
Quote:
CURRENT SERVER

Processor - 1U.64.E5405 - Intel® Xeon® Processor E5405 (12M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
1000 GB sax2. (Raid Hardware)
8192 MB RAM
Traffic - 200Mbps (Network connection and internal traffic - 1Gbps)
30 TB Bandwidth
Price: 268,8 €

And here are some good and cheaper dedicated servers that I found:
Quote:
OPTION 1

Intel Xeon Quad 4x 2.83+ GHz 12MB L2 - FSB 1333 MHz 45nm
2x 1500 GB - SATA2
8 GB DDR2
Traffic - 200Mbps (Network connection and internal traffic - 1Gbps)
Unlimited* Bandwidth (*The traffic is unlimited. If you exceed 10 TB / Month connection will be limited to 10Mbps. Optionally, a rate of 1 Gbps be attributed to this for the purchase of Tuberculosis of the additional traffic. € 14.90 exc VAT (€ 17.88 inc VAT) per additional TB.)
Price: 150 €

Quote:
OPTION 2

Intel Bi Xeon Quad 8x 2.00+ GHz 12MB L2 - FSB 1333 MHz 45nm
2x 1500 GB - SATA2
16 GB DDR2 RAM
Traffic - 200Mbps (Network connection and internal traffic - 1Gbps)
Unlimited* Bandwidth (*The traffic is unlimited. If you exceed 15 TB / Month connection will be limited to 10Mbps. Optionally, a rate of 1 Gbps be attributed to this for the purchase of Tuberculosis of the additional traffic. € 14.90 exc VAT (€ 17.88 inc VAT) per additional TB.)
Price: 198 €

What do you think that is better for a file sharing website?
I know that option 2 is best, but inst 16 GB RAM too much for a sharing file website? inst 8 GB RAM enough?
And what do you think about the unlimited* traffic? and the "If you exceed 10 TB / Month connection will be limited to 10Mbps"? Inst too bad If I exceed the 10 or 15 TB and get my server working with only 10Mbps? What that means? That my website will open very slow?
My current server has 30 TB but I pay too much for him...

Please help Smile

Seems 1st one have best traffic deal. This is very important for filesharing sites. So you can push up to 60GB with it since they won't limit you.

well, it depends how populair your site is

the second server is good enouf to start (option 1 )

and it depends if you go have 2 servers or only 1 server

if you go for 2 servers then take the second server (option 1 ) (as file server, webserver doesnt need to be that realy hard Razz )

but if you go to single server
then take option 1 to to start with

and exand it later at option 'current server'

30TB per month is a lot, and you dont even goin make the 10TB per month for the first ... 6 months

so its useless to trow your money away to that if you cant use it

The Quad Xeon is powerfull enouf for a download server

even a Dual Xeon is enouf to start with

in the beginning you can safe money by thins kind of stuff , safe money and expand later
or you lose a lot of money

and if you dont mind , i can do a few offers to , but only in $ and paypall (1€ = +- 1.35$ )
in case of intrests take then a look at http://getadedi.com Very Happy
