A few questions for Video encoding mod owners

#1 Postby Guneyd » May 20, 2014 6:56 pm

Hi,

I've always made use of the normal video mod (no encoding) and I'm thinking of switching over to encoding, but I've got a few questions for those who already have it.

1. - Have you done any extra customization (apache/nginx or linux itself) in order to display video's better/faster? Or have you just set-up the mod within XFS itself and installed the necessary modules (such as mplayer)?

2. - I've sometimes read here that some XFS owners have a separate server for encoding and another for the download/streaming of video files. Can this be easily set-up within XFS self after you've acquired the mod or is custom coding necessary for this option?

3. - For those who have an encoding server, what are your server specs?

Thank you in advance!

I have not gotten this mod.

But there is a down side to it.

Lets say am amateur user encodes there videos. lets say your site encodes there video.

There video might be alright but if not there video will be all blurry.

Hopefully some one response to your question. In my opinion ill stick without it.

1. No
2. Needs custom coding
3. Encoding needs CPU, so buy the best your budget can allow
