Can xupload handle write-caching?

#1 Postby what » May 18, 2009 10:41 pm

ok, i have tried more upload progress bars than i can remember, and none has worked on my server (shared, so it is the way it is). i'm currently using uberuploader for the upload administration, but the progress bar does not work so i have to make do with an animated gif. not great. as you may know, uberuploader and many other uploaders can't handle, what is known as, write caching, so simply wonder whether xupload can? i just tried the free version with no joy, so i guess it wont work if using free version. does the pro version work? and when i talk of write-caching... according to uberuploader:

Code: Select all

...the CGITemp file do not actually hit the disk until the upload is complete, making it worthless for reporting on progress during the upload.
which might give you an idea of what it is. is xupload up to the task?

You can test using this special .cgi: http://xfilesharing.net/test_up.zip

I believe it's apache that caching upload stream.
