DMCA Complaints

#1 Postby speakerbox » Jun 20, 2014 11:05 pm

Hello fellow websites owners,

Lately I have been receiving about 30 DMCA emails every day mostly from one company. The company is listing sometimes up to 150 links in one email... I feel like these request are bogus and totally automated. I've checked other websites that host the same files and have links on the same pages but their files are never removed...

What procedure do you guys follow? What information is required for these request to be seen as being valid? The company thats sending the majority of the request with massive amounts of links is Dtec Net.

What are your guys thoughts?
Thanks!!

Personally i never heard of them.

Also did they follow your procedures for dmca take down. If they did so they they should show all the information that it dose belong to them. If not tell them to look at your dmca for content removal.

You can read about the company here: http://tinyurl.com/p5q2pjc

I don't think I can just ignore all their emails all together. They follow most of the DMCA notice protocal. They are missing signatures and such. I guess i should send them an email and tell them that this information is missing?

What do other people do? I'm positive that I'm not the only one receiving emails from this company.

Please fill me in; Thanks!

Hi,

What kind of stuff do they ask you to take down?

DtecNet is a bot by MarkMonitor.

They remove some 200,000-400,000 URLs a week.

Don't ignore DMCA's unless you want to get in actual legal trouble. As you can see from the requests they represent the biggest producers.

They ask us to remove video files.

We respond to the majority of them but in many cases their sending us 300+ links per email. Frustrating when other hosts still have the same files available...

Tell them to use the Report system.
Pretty sure they need to do a separate report for every file.

Option 2 - find out who is the uploader and if they are not making money for your just remove him and his files to save yourself some time and nerves.
