Hi ,
Useing your Xfilesharing pro i'am opening a site that will handle about 5000 visitors per day , about the storrage ... i don't know ... i will aim at about 40Tb in Raid 1 ( so 20 Tb left ) .
I'am searching for a good hardware solution to host this . Is this script capable of that much traffic ? Bandwitdth is not a problem , i have multiple gigabit direct link's as well as /21 ip's and AS number .
What i thinked of :
Buy one dual quad core , 16 gb ram Dell Poweredge 2950 server with SAS 15K drives ( raid 1 ) for the main OS and database .
Buy multiple Dual core computers , each one with multiple PCI raid controller for storage .
Dedicated storage solution is not considered due to high price .
Any suggestions ? I'am new to this hosting thing .. i'am specialized in networking / ip routeing .
Thanks !

Re: Hardware and storrage solution ?
Do you mean 50,000 users a day? Because an entry level quad core machine with 8GB ram or less spec can handle 5,000 users..very easy.

[quote="darkm4n"]Thanks for you answers !
For the filesharing server's , the 7200rpm HDD are enought ? Or i need to have 10K or 15K hdd's to handle the traffic ?
Sorry for my mistake , 50,000 users [/quote
how about your budget?, my server using 2 1.2 Tb Hardisk 7200 Rpm with raid 1
better perfomance (Read and write) using 15k HDD for large traffic

I currently using a fileserver with this spec:
X8SIL-F mainboard
Quadcore Xeon X3430 2.4GHz
12GBRAM
16x1TB SATAII WD Caviar Raid Edn
ARC-1680ix-12 16 port raid controller
32GB SSD Os Disk
Raidsetup is Raid10 so about 7Tb space
This setup should handle 1-4 Gbit links
----
And i am planning to get a
quad core
8-12Gb ram
4xSAS 15k HD in HW Raid 10
as web and database server
should be enough for a while
