Help me decide...100Mbps or 1Gbps?

#1 Postby beeman1212 » Nov 02, 2012 1:50 am

Please help me decide.. should I switch from leaseweb to a US DC?

I have about 250 users, spread out all over the world US/Canada East and West, UK, netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia. I expect to grow to 500 users in a year.

Would you stay with Netherlands DC 1Gbps or US DC 100Mbps.

With Netherlands DC users in USA/Canada/Australia users don't get maximum speeds, US/CA Westcoast and Aussie users are affected the most with latency issues. Europe, Singapore, Malaysia users get best speeds.

With USA DC, it's only 100Mbps, the latency is good in USA/CAN.
I don't know if it will be good for European Countries, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, etc. Also 100Mbps will it be enough? (current average out 33mbits/sec)

Yea it will be. 100 Mbps line is ok for that kind of traffic - however a cap limit could be reached during the day several times if there are more uses dl at the same time (it also depends of you dl speed limit) if this cap will be reached or not.
I would recommend you to stay with 100Mb line for now till you'll notice a drop in speed.
Don't react too soon just based on active connections. Wait for a signal from your server and save yourself some bucks.
