I need some clarification and basics on Remote Upload ...

#1 Postby RockDiz » Nov 02, 2012 7:09 pm

so i have remote uploading enabled for only registered users.
Do my users have to put in their login information in their account on my site for the sites they're trying to upload from?
for example, mediafire.com. I've entered my login info and tried to upload a link:

Code: Select all

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?XXXXXXXXXX
http://www.mediafire.com/?XXXXXXXXXX
When I try to upload, I get a page with no links and this error:
"Error: Received HTML page instead of file"

Do I have to have a premium account on mediafire for this to work? same as for the other sites?

thanks

Remote upload is exactly as it sounds, provide a direct link and it'll download from it and upload to your server.

Thanks Randy!
I wasn't too sure what it's used for and or how to use it so I just removed it. Thanks for letting me know :D

your users will ask you for it to bring it back but if you have heavy uploaders from server2server it can slow everything down!

I am also getting above message while trying to use remote url upload on my xfs based site.
"Error: Received HTML page instead of file"
Doesn't it mean that the url i have specified for leeching is not correct or in proper format?
Also can someone please explain the difference between remote url upload and url leech?
I am trying to download a file from url of another filesharing site and use remote url upload to upload it to my site.
