Nginx Mod - Installation?

#1 Postby speakerbox » Sep 10, 2010 6:21 am

Hello,

Today i had some issues with apache and the number of direct connections. My management company was going to install nginx for me but I wanted speak with the xfilesharing community first to see if there was some special installation instructions; I do have the nginx mod. I searched on the forums for a guide for installing the nginx mod but I can't find any information on it. Would it be possible for someone to send me the information so I can pass it on to my management team and have them install it?

Regards,
D

Nginx mod costs money, and you need sibsoft to setup the nginx server.

Due special configurations to make it work 100% with Xfs.

That seems a bit expensive for the installation considering their script only cots 600USD for everything. My server runs fine and load is extremely low; just apache has used up all of it's concurrent connections. I've increased them but I'd rather use nginx to serve the static pages.

Can't I get my management company to set-it up so that it servers the static pages with the video files rather then have apache do all the work?

Use Litespeed webserver on your main server, so long you dont have a fileserver there..

My main server currently contains my file sharing server aswell so i guess that isn't an option.

If you think for the future i can recommend to split those 2 up.

Keep the web for it self and run Litespeed.

Then run fileservers with nginx

The nice thing about nginx is that it doesnt use perl as much as apache does.
this takes the load off the server.

Perl is a heavy hitter on the Cpu

And you will be needing nginx if your server gets to certain point of traffic.

For the time being I'm just getting my management company to install nginx on the server.

Chrda, is there a way I can speak with you over msn or something similar? I have a few things I'd like to ask you.

They can install it, but you cant use it for download backend without sibsoft configuration.

You can use nginx as a frontend, just for static files..

Press the email button and send me your msn there.

NGINX installatin is only $200 now, not $300.
And it will really save you from load on apache.

The issue isn't the server load but the the amount of concurrent connections that apache is allowed. I've set it to 500 so hopefully that will work alright for now.

If I get the nginx mod and transfer server will you guys re-install it or do I need to pay another 200USD for the install? Will this installation work with a server that has the website front end on the same place as the file server?
