Optimizing Server For File Hosting

#1 Postby glumbo » Sep 10, 2011 10:52 pm

What optimizations have you done on your server to make it suitable for file hosting?

well , its to many to explain as it is not only file hosting

but for the file hosting server ??

just placing a dedicated server, putting apache on it and start tweaking apache to keep cpu load low ??

basicly i use 2 servers for filehosting

1 server for website only so the load get balanced , and a dedicated server just for the files so the speed keeps perfect (else your site will go terrible slow)

the other tweaks you need to figure out on your own as they are always differend per server and per visitors and with time :D
thats why they call it tweaking

to many and to difficult to explain and i am still tweaking apache and mysql to lower cpu load and ram usage

anyway
you shoul figure it out on your own what the best tweaks are as it is always differen per server
there are no basic tweaks

tweaking depends on differend things , like what is located on your server , what is running in the background , what extra programs you got running (like firewall) and monitor scripts and other things

so the best thing i can say is to figure it out on your own
if you do it good then the server will be great , do it bad and you notice it soon enouf ^^
