changing root password on server? is it okay

#1 Postby joebloggs » Jan 05, 2013 6:32 pm

After having a few admins work on the server we want to change the root password so that the site is not open to persons whom have worked on the machine in the past for security reasons.

can changing the root have any implications on the running of xfs script.

also im guessing the pass on the db must not be altered?

thanks for any suggestions.

You can change your root password without any impact on XFS without any other changes.

The root password has nothing to do with XFS.
As for the DB password , if you change it you must edit XFileconfig and change the password there too .

Be sure who ever you let into the root of your server is trustworthy.. they can easily set an SSH key, and use that for remote log-in, even after you've change the root pass.
