#1 Postby locochris05 » Apr 24, 2013 10:20 pm

I know people can see where my website is hosted, but can they see where the Fileservers are hosted??

How?

I do a Whois look up on a domain and it only shows where the main script is hosted but nothing about the file servers...

If they are hosted in different servers that is...

When you are downloading a file, you see the exact URL to the file which is transfered so if your fileserver is hosted on fs1.xfilesharing.com you can check the IP and make a whois on it. There is no way to hide the source of an incoming file transfer in the browser.

You could of course hide it behind a proxy, but then you have 300% of traffic to pay:
- outgoing traffic from the fileserver
- incoming traffic to the proxy
- outgoing traffic from the proxy
