Random slow storage server

Dear users,

I have a storage server with nginx and sometime the upload speed is very low. Usually the upload speed (for me) 650kb/s and then something will be wrong and my upload speed is 250kb/s

Please add me a good advice how can I solve this problem.

There can be so many reason for that.
Maxed linkspeed 100 or 1000Mbit kills the upload speed.
Maxed disk IO kills the upload speed
Bad Datacenter routing / oversale of the link kills the upload in peak.

You need to post info related to:
Your port speed on the server
Your datacenter you have the server in
What disk setup do you have.

- 1Gbs port speed
- 100Tb.com where my storage server in
- I don't know the disk setup :S

Unfortunetly I'm not an IT expert. :( I know I'm dumb, but I have a very small sharing site and I try to make with low budget.

At the moment this server is working perfectly. Upload speed is 650Kb/s.

So....this is very interesting.

get a server administrator, he will figure it out

without server access we can only speculate what is the cause

Disk load is only 3%, don't see that as a issue.

Increasing ram will be a overkill.

Thank for your answer. If the RAM is enough and the disk load is not much, why slow the premium download speed?

I give for every premium member 1024kb/s per slot download speed, they can download only 100-125Kb/s. :(

Ram is ok, in this condition.

Speed will vary from location to location, it all depends on routing. Are the down loaders from same country/continent ? As the server.

My downloaders are all around the world. For example I'm in Hungary and my download speed 150Kb/s (at evening CET). Why I download at morning the download speed is much better (1Mb/s)

Maybe there is a possibility to limit premium download slot?

i am also going to buy server.
i want to take 8 gb ram.

it will work good or will give problems

its my full spec

HP DL120G7
Intel E3-1230
8GB RAM
4x1000GB HDD
100TB traffic on GigE port

one my friend said that 16 gb ram is must :(

this could be a issue with your isp, try it from various locations and see

if there isnt much disk load, then its your datacentre or isp issue
