reinstall script w/o data loss

#1 Postby Dmitriy » Apr 08, 2010 3:33 pm

Good evening,
what is the way to reinstall the whole script without data loss, either main server or extra file servers scripts?

I suppose to backup:
all configuration files *.pm
files folder "uploads"
mysql database dump

after standard installation all above mentioned files are to be overwritten
Would it be enough?

thks in advance for all valuable comments

Hello,

yes, if that will be the same server - that will be enough.

btw, if you have image mod activated - you need to backup /i folder as well.

if I try to install new extra file server script to adjacent folder ( from old faulty extra file server's folder), I got finally all OKs upon install_fs.cgi run,
but when I tried to add extra file server from main server admin section in a few minutes I got following screen:
Image
If I run these links :
http://........../test/cgi-bin/upload.cgi?mode=test
http://........./test/files/index.html
I get "XFS" at the browser

What might it be?
The problem with old extra file server is simular:
while generating downloading links browser was freezing and finally showing connection time out error:

Code: Select all

Error happened when generating Download Link.
Please try again or Contact administrator.
(500 Can't connect to domain.ru:80 (connect: Connection timed out) )
If you try to upload some files to this faulty old extra FS you get "File not found".

Thanks a lot for valuable comments.

that does mean that your file server cant connect to main server or vice versa. try to login to each server via ssh and telnet to 80 of each other. I bet you will see connection error. we've seen such situation several times already.
