Separating the main server from the file server!

#1 Postby Mr_parham » Jul 28, 2012 11:10 am

Hi everyone

when I started the file hosting I used one server for both main server and file server, but now i want to separate the file server from main server (move the main server to a more stable server so in case anything happen to the file server the main server would still be up and running), does anyone know which are the files I would have to backup and move to the new server??

Thanks

just install a new file server as normal. set your current one to read only. transfer all files a page at a time to the new file server with the move feature in the admin area.

I think i didnt explain what i want to do correctly

I have two servers, server A and server B, currently all of the files and also main server is on server A, i want to move the main server to server B and keep all of the files on server A which means that i would have to move the database and also the actuall main script but i dont know which files are for the main script

ask sibsoft or hire an admin for your server to do it.

do you still need any help with this ?
if you do , then i can take care of it

the easy'st way is to do a fresh install and restore the db backup

add a new server (admin arena) and then manaul edit the file location to the new server ( id1 to id2) and everything works like it should be
