Server configuration

#1 Postby webconnector » Apr 20, 2010 10:35 am

Hi nead a help, please sorry for bad English

i wont make 2 server ( for www and fileserver )
I ask to prompt server parametres

for WWW
CPU-xeon 3.2Gh
RAM-2GB
HDD-500GB (Raid 1)

For XFileSharing
CPU-Xeon 2*3.2Gh
RAM-8GB
HDD-4TB (Raid 1 2TB)

I know that at first traffics will be a little and not enough load (but I want that there was a power store) ??????

For .us server try 100Tb.com (they offer customs HD setups)
For .eu server try Rackegde 100Tb deals on WHT forum

100TB = 300Mbit constant

Setup 2 virtuals hosts in apache
www.host.com
fs01.host.com

when site gets bigger, move the www out to its own server.

Or if you want to save some money, start with some cheap 10TB server deals. then upgrade when needed. Also you can host the www on shared hosting at start. then move over to dedicated when you get more traffic.

I can offer you 30Tb/450Gb space (Fileserver only) for 100$ / Month

you don't need 500gb for your www server, if you can get a 80gb ssd instead of it that will boost the performance

FS , specifications look good; but you might better go with more storage and use RAID10 instead of RAID1, if you are getting a gbit connection.

House server is not a good choice.
Not with a private internet link..

But depens on what files your are going to host, and if you are going to sell premium accounts or not.

If you are hosting small files 500Gb is enough to start with.
Like Mp3 etc..

If you offer 10$ per 1000Points you server can get full pretty fast.

Home internet link are not suited for sharing files all over the world.
Quality of the transit on home links are very variable.

If you want quality and good transit for your users you should be sure on your solution.

If you host at home you need atleast a UPS ;)
