Complete system BACKUP

#1 Postby snapongo » Jun 16, 2009 10:44 pm

Hello,

What is the BEST way to completely backup everything that has to do with a xfilesharing pro website and files ??

meaning in case of a complete crash of the File Servers and Main Server, what is the way to do complete backups so that a restore will restore everything exactly as it was before with exact file links etc...

Thank You

The best way to completely Backup everything is running RAID arrays :)

Raid is not a backup. Can a developer please post a true answer to this post ??

RAID is not a perfect solution, if your machine is destroyed or hacked you will use all, The best way is a R1soft backup (Continuous Backup) at other data center. That would be the safer way to backup.

How big is your server, how many backup space you need? We have some r1soft servers and agents.

If you want to buy the software for you, you will need one clean server, and at least 500 dollars to buy licenses.

Yes, RAID is not actually backup but it will keep you safe if HDD on your server will fail.

As for backup (storing site copy somewhere) - you can go with any solution you want. That could be internal cPanel backup feature (if you using cpanel) OR that could be r1soft CDP (like ankrus said) OR that could be custom made script.
The goal is to backup mysql database (mysqldump) and create copy of cgi-bin and htdocs folders.
