Traffic is low (under 200 Users Online) But Disk is 110%

#1 Postby bee199 » Oct 30, 2012 7:22 am

Hello Guys

My server (since installing nginx) has been going down and down again.

Users online are under 200, but atop shows 1500+ reads.

---------------------------------------------------
My apache config:

KeepAlive On
MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
KeepAliveTimeout 3

<IfModule prefork.c>
StartServers 8
MinSpareServers 5
MaxSpareServers 20
ServerLimit 512
MaxClients 512
MaxRequestsPerChild 10000
</IfModule>

<IfModule worker.c>
StartServers 4
MaxClients 512
MinSpareThreads 25
MaxSpareThreads 75
ThreadsPerChild 25
MaxRequestsPerChild 100
</IfModule>

Please can anyone help me with this problem?

1500 reads are connections, not users.

As above you'll need to lower the download speeds or limit the connections due to your HDD maxing its IO.

* Add More Server to your system
* Use Strong Hardwares like Hardware Raids with SAS or Enterprise Disks
* Split OS Disk from Storage Disk on FileServers

Example offer from our FileServers:

2 x Quad Core 2.40Ghz HT (E5620)
RAM 48GB DDR3 ECC
2 x 120GB Intel Solid State + 12 x 3TB SAS 7,200 RPM
H700 Raid Controller with BBU
1Gbps / Unmetered BW
CentOS Linux 6.3
No Panel / Optimized Kernel and FileSystem for FileServer
1200€ ~

Unfortunately XFS seems to be a very bad script...

I get CPU overload all the time and the error that all of you get as well

almost every 3 days the same error:
Can't connect to mysql...

You ask in the forum nobody knows, you ask them by mail they say you must check the mysql configuration...

It is the script that overloads the CPU and it can't connect then to mysql...

Just optimize the script XFS team. Pleaseeeeee!

Of course it's very very bad script. It's crashing your servers. pcfun19, instead of blaming on script, better hire admin if you can't manage your servers and mysql properly.
