Xvideosharing Site structure Main/encoding/fileserver

#1 Postby erahul88 » Jun 21, 2012 10:07 pm

Hello, I am on the verge of buying Xvideosharing.

I am little confused by the site structure about the main server / encoding & file server. I have few questions regarding it.
  • 1) Does "Main server" encodes the videos or "file server" encodes it ?
    2) What is good practice to encode video on "Main server" or "file server".

3)What is the difference between "add new host" and "add file server (MAIN-02)"
    4) Can we have multiple host too, is it a inbuild feature ?
Please explain the management.

MAIN server - it's script + DB server only. No encoding or file storage there.

Host - it's abstraction for Physical server, it can contain multiple HDDs.

Fileserver - it's HDD on physical server.

Videos uploaded / encoded / stored on fileservers.
But you can use same server for Main and File servers as well if you start with single server configuration. Later you can add many extra fileservers when you need much power for your site.
