Turning Computer off while sending a message.

Once I start sending a message to a mailing list can I turn off my computer without affecting the mailout? Or do I need to leave the computer on until the job is finished?

If you're using web based method of sending - you should keep your browser open during mailing process. But if you're using cron daemon - you can close your browser/turn your computer off.
