Why do these '( ) [ ] $' symbols become '_' {underscores} on uploaded files ?

[ ] & $ ( ) ..etc... symbols turn to _ (underscore) in the filename after the file has been uploaded. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

Login to your server as admin... Â and go here: Â "Settings-->Files"
- Look for the option that says "Sanitize filename" Â and make sure its 'unchecked'
