Hello,
We have a server with a 4x2TB RAID 10 array + 120GB SSD drive.
We use XFS for a video sharing site.
Would it be possible to specify the SSD partition as the initial storage where files will be first uploaded to and run through mp4 plugin (after which they will be transferred to the RAID 10 SATA partition)?
Has any one done this before?
Thanks.
XFileSharing Pro - How to specify the video converting partition?
I dont use Video Sharing mod before but i think this system use cgi-bin/temp folder for new uploads and waiting converting files.
You cant change easly this temp folder, but you can mount a SSD parttion to this folder maybe.
Another alternative, create a small storage Upload server on SSD disk and after converting files, transfer to another FileServer on SATA Disk.

they dont wait in /tmp , but are stored in uploads folder & are encoded from thereventure89 wrote:Can some one confirm that XFS is using /tmp folder for uploaded videos that are waiting to be converted?
Or does it copy converting videos to /tmp first?
If a different partition is used in any part of the converting process we can mount that partition on a SSD?
Thanks.
its not possible to use a diff partition/device for encoding with default script, maybe with some customization you can archive this
And you don't need a SSD for encoding a SATA disk is enough, encoding doesn't need random io.
