As the topic sais I would like to use XFileSharing Free version to build a video host / can this be worked out ?

VLC player tells me the codecs are:

Stream 1: H264 and
Stream 2 : mpga

Is this whats causing the divx player not being generated?

Its still an avi file as I mentioned above.

I downloading a few of them, to test , the extension is .avi now they might have different codec.

I belive it's server timeout for CGI scripts. Check your apache config for this or contact server administrator to increase cgi script timeout.
