Uplink ports

#1 Postby gregmine » Sep 22, 2010 10:36 am

Greetings,

We are currently operating our servers on 1000 Mbps uplink ports to offer high download speeds, but as you may know it is quite costly.

Does most large and small filehosting sites run on 1Gbps or 100Mbps? Will it make a big difference in terms of speed and annoyance to our customers to downgrade to 100Mbps?

Any response would be helpful.

I only use 100Mbs... no complaints on speed from my users

I strongly recommend a 1000Mbit port, because you will notice dramatic speeds on peaktimes (if you have a lot of users).

Upgrade to 1000mbps only if your current 100mbps channel is maxing out in peak hours.
Better speeds user get - better they will pay, that's for sure.
