Will this server suffice?

I plan on purchasing XFS script and have been researching/shopping around for servers. My question is, can the following server handle about 50-100 users?

Also with all the drama that is happening with MU,FS,FSC and many more gone or removing their affiliate system. Is a DC in NL safe? or which countries does everyone think is safe?

Server: HP ProLiant DL120
CPU: 1x Intel Quad Core X3440
RAM: 8GB
HDD: 4x 1TB
Datatraffic: 100TB
Uplink: 1Gbps

Well, I will personally suggest to wait & see.

Many file hosting services are down & many are under investigation. Specially totally non-incentive websites like mediafire, 4shared etc.

So, it will be recommended to wait for some time like a month or so & then decide something.

Thanks for the recommendation, do you think the server specs are good for a start off filehost though?

they are perfect to handle 50 - 100 users (thats where i use a vps with 512 mb ram for )

but it depends how you configure things
it is good to start with , but i would still suggest to keep your site to a extern host so it offlaod the direct traffic

thent hat server can handle a lot more with out a problem or high server loads

then for the dc , i can not say if it is safe or not
but i stay in germany and belguim for my servers

hostlife, I'm curious do you still have a filehost site?

I plan on getting this as a file server.
Server: Dell PowerEdge R510
CPU: 2x Intel Quad Core E5504
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Port: 1gbps
HDD: 4x 2TB
RAID 5

Yes, i still have file hosting

There is no need of dual processors power. You should get high grade hard disks & good hardware raid card.

Thanks for the info!

I'm assuming a VPS is enough to run the script, does anyone know good VPS hosts that are not in UK/US based? I've been searching and I've found many hosts offering VPS plans from france but it would be great to get recommendations from people who are already running filehost sites.

Well, if you are expecting sudden load on your site, vps is not recommended. High end vps may work in that case, but better go with some dedicated server.

you can find many hosting services in WHT offers forum. Go with some established hosting
