XFileSharing Pro - Anyone with any idea why thumbs would die?

I only run the image addon. I have a user saying some of his thumbs are dead, and they are. No idea why. Most are old ones. It's pretty isolated to him. I've seen it once or twice.

I do not recall any server errors or anything. He said they used to work.

Support just brushed it off. They said they are not my server maintenance, so no guidance there at all.

Ideas?

moved the files from one server to another ? transfers can cause this issue

Nope. Haven't moved a single file ever. The server has hardly had any downtime. I see no reason for this.
