Hey Randy, if a person is having 12*2TB hdds..won't Raid 6 be a better choice than Raid 5 or 10? I mean Raid 6 will give the advantage of handling 2 hdds failures compared to raid 5 and 10. Would love your input in this, Thanks.

yes raid6 would also be possible bit only if more than 12 discs. of course it's better for failure. im not a 100% raid expert.

I also have servers with raid 6 but I think the performance is better with raid10. but for a storage server raid 6 should be much better

I would start with kimsulfi 2g and then scale up once site generates some oney. It is becoming impossible to make any money now a days as no cc billers want to take up on file hosting sites

Anyone use before VERY VERY BIG server?

I will buy on next week this server:

2x E5-2670 CPU
96GB Ram
Raid Card 1 : 2 x 240GB SSD for OS (Raid 1)
Raid Card 2 : 14 x 4TB SATA Disk (Raid 10)
Unlimited 10Gbit Port (2Gbit Guaranteed)

I dont use before Raid 10 with lot of hard disks, i hope, with disk config i can handle 10K connections and Random 200Mbyte/sec Disk IO.

No ppd at all, strictly pps.
Lets limit our replies to the topic at hand on this business board, there is no need for personal jibes.

With a $30 budget you won't make any business, so better proceed to http://www.teenhut.net/

If you want a serious discussion, stay serious yourself.

I wrote $30 for file server, if possible. Thats not total cost of hosting or the max i plan to spend. Thanks for the helpful contribution.

Hello,
I want to buy a dedicated 100TB server here:

https://www.nforce.com/High-volume/10

HP DL120 G7€ 249.95 Per 1 month.
E3-1240, 16 RAM, 4x 3 TB HDD, 100 TB BW

Which RAID controller will be installed on this server? I can only choose Distribution and number of Ip adresses

When I try to configure my own server I can choose the RAID, but it cost more than the regular HP DL120 G7
