On shared server, can not use 777 permissions on folders?

#1 Postby Carolyn » Mar 29, 2007 2:15 pm

HI, according to my server, I can not change my permissions to 777 for any of my files or folders. Therefore, they suggested I write to the forum to see if there is anyway to get around this, since the 755 permissions will not accept my uploads. I assume I must somehow add my username and password for the server in the script, but where? I use bluehost as my server..anyone else using them?

Also, the downloader progress does not show up.

I am appreciative of any help with this. thanks.

Probably 755 permissions will be enough for script too if your scripts running from your user.
You have to able to write into temp & uploads folders from your CGI scripts. That's the requirement.

P.S.: first time hear about hosting that restrict 777 CHMOD, funny :)
