view image after upload

Is there a way i can see the image uploaded directly on my website? Meanig when a user uploads, in the results page he can see the image he uploaded and can also download

ok i see the files get uploaded to ploads/00000/FILENAME, the name changes and the extension is removed,

1. how can i prevent the extension and filename changing
2. do files always get uploaded in "00000" directroy?
