Instructions for installation on a VPS using CPanel and FileZilla for FTP
1) FTP(Upload) the "cgi-bin" folder(including its contents) to "public_html" To your hosting account root where your home page would go.
2) FTP(Upload) the "CONTENTS" of "htdocs" folder to "public_html" where you uploaded the "cgi-bin" folder. To your hosting accounts root where your home page would go.
3) Move "TEMP" and "UPLOADS" folders/directories from the "cgi-bin" folder/directory to "public_html" where you placed all of the contents of the "htdocs" folder.
4) Set install.cgi permissions to 755. Then open it in your browser (e.g. http://server.com/cgi-bin/install.cgi) REPLACE "server.com" with the domain name of your site.
5) Fill out all of the necessary fields. In step #4 of the install screen under "htdocs folder URL" simply put your URL with no trailing slash.
6) For "temp folder path" insert a / in between "public_html" and "temp"
7) For "uploads folder path" insert a / in between "public_html" and "temp"
Don't forget your "Admin password."
9) After you've completed all the steps and got all green "ok's" delete install.cgi, install.sql files for security reasons.
10) Double check XFileConfig.pm and if necessary modify file with your site details(PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO ALL THE DETAILS...ESPECIALLY THE - / - FORWARD SLASHES). There are a couple of them missing. You'll also need to put in your "admin" email address 4 times.
This worked for me on a VPS with CPanel at GoDaddy and all of the server requirements having been met before the install.
If anyone has questions feel free to ask and I will be glad to answer.
