Also, is it better for xfilesharing to be on Dedicated Server or Cloud Server? Does it make much difference?
Any recommended server specs? configurations? software?

All depend on your requirements.

If you have small site, you can put main site on vps/cloud and files on dedicated server. Don't put main site and files on same server.
