Sometimes upload doesn't starts

#1 Postby mfaya » Aug 22, 2009 1:38 pm

Xuploads pro 3.1 works great in my website, but with some internet providers, people have problems uploading :
- sometimes, upload doesn't starts (internet connexion works correctly) : progress bar appears, but the file size stays to 0kb and progress stays to 0kb to.
- if they clic on "stop uploading" and click again on the "submit" button, uploads works (sometimes they must do it several times).
- when uploads starts, it works well until to the end of the upload.

Any suggestion ? It's important for me.

Thanks,
Marc.

Safari is weird browser, having really weird caching algorithms.
I hoped these problems were solved in 3.1 version.
Try this: comment this line in xupload.js:

Code: Select all

if(!document.all)window.frames['xupload'].stop();
or replace with next line if no help:

Code: Select all

window.frames['xupload'].stop();
Can't test on my side cause working perfectly on my Safari 4.0.3 under windows.

Thanks.
I have safari 4 at home, so I can make tests easily. Indeed, the problem comes from safari, because on the same machine (Mac OSX) and internet connexion it works well with firefox 3.5.
I tried both solution (just commenting the line and then replacing), I have cleared the cache of safari, reloaded the page and problem isn't solved. After about 10 jpg images uploaded, the problem comes again.

Perhaps you could try here ? :

If you don't manage, we can find a moment where I share my mac to you with VNC ?

same problem on linux with firefox and opera.

but strangely, free demo version and nano version works, only pro doesn't work for me

Here is the video of the bug [link removed] if someone has the same.

Can we know what is different between free/nano and pro version please ?

Thank you

Ok I found the solution. In fact version 3.1 pro contains a bug.

Installed version 3.0 pro and it will be ok.

Note that version free and nano work perfectly. Hope for a patch

Thanks.
But were can I dowload the 3.0 version ?
I have bought the 3.1 version, and when I follow the link sent in my email to download xupload I can only have the 3.1
Would be better to have this bug fixed in the 3.1 !

I asked sibsoft team for sending me the 3.0 version by mail.

Of course it would be better to have this bug fixed in the new version, but the matter is that the bug is not identified by sibsoft. Even with the video I made before where you see that pro doesn't work with some OS.

Last mail I had, they were talling me that 3.1 wasn't working for me because the installation was bad. I notice them that the video was showing the upload on THEIR website and I hope xuplod is correctly installed on their server ;) No answer.

For me the problem comes with the modification of the ajax request to the server. Changelog says that it has been optimised but I think this optimisation create a bug.

Hope the sibsoft team will listen us :)

Good luck

Yes,
Thanks for theses informations.
I've been trying with several mac computers with safari on there web site demo to, and they all encounter the problem.
So the bug is clearly present.

Of course we hear you :)
You're not the first person who faced that problem. Pilgrim will take a look when he will be back.

Btw, did 3.0 worked for you?

Has this problem been addressed in the currently available version? I'm still using 2.5 and am considering upgrading, but not if it has issues with Safari as that is the browser most used for our clients.
