video lag

#1 Postby ryuchix » Oct 15, 2012 3:13 am

i just want to ask what is the problem why my videos play too long to start?. Usually it took 1 minute to start the video playing.

I only have 1K videos stored and only getting 100 real time users (based on google analytics).

my server is
2x Intel Xeon 5620 2.40GHz
48 GB DDR3 RAM

sometimes the site itself take too long to load. i checked my SSH using top -c command and cpu usage never reach 5%.

could it be my server? or settings or xfile itself?

if anyone experience and know how to fix it. pleae help me.

thank you

install atop. (do a search in this forum)
see if your hard disk or bandwith is overloaded.

You never posted what kind of network this server is connected to. What is the network port speed?

if the file has a longer runtime, it will take more time to download the moov part after which the mp4 starts playing

you should switch to flv, if you want a quicker start of your video

I see. So the problem isnt on my settings but on the video itself?

But why sometimes my xfilesharing website takes time to loads?

link to your website ? cant say without actually seeing if its slow or not

if you need quicker start then flv is the only way for vids with longer runtime
