What are big sites using for storage ? SAN or normal servers , how do u cope with old files which just take space and have very few downloaders.
I can keep adding FS servers just for sake of increasing storage capacity.
Can someone shed some light on this.

I am currently upgrading my normal run of the mill server to a larger one more ram more connectivity more disk space
But - I am unsure of the next step
Do I just keep adding these - or is there a better way?

Believe me, SibSoft is not dealing with high capacity/traffic servers
Some of our clients do.
This is totally up to you to decide what to do with old files - delete or keep them on HDD for rare visitors. That's the marketing decision.
And sure big successfull players won't share their secrets cause way too many players on this market these days.
